Hi, I am new here. No ?s yet. I am of Norweigan Descent.
My Great Grandfather came to the "USA" IN 1872, His name is John Stokke, However his father was a Larsen, so this leaves me confused...and my Great Grandmother came to the "USA" around that time also, her name is Johanna Olson, she came with her mother,Anna Jorgensdatter/Johnson. Johanna's Father drowned in Norway. So, I really don't have a clue what anyones real name is....owell someday I'll figure it out, guess there are lots of Family in Minnesota,USA.....I'm in Canada.

Hi Tammy.

John probably took the name "Stokke" from the farm where he grew up in Norway. That was quite common in those days!

Do you happen to know John's fathers first name (Mr. Larsen)? It should be an "easy" task to find John's hometown in Norway...

And when was John born? Have you found him in the 1880 us census? What was the name of John and Johannas children?

Looks like I have more ?s than you have...

Jan Peter
