My grandfather was from the village of Kragero near Oslo. Looking for any family he may still have there.

My grandfather changed his name to Thronson when he came to the USA in 1908. He had an older Brother that settled in the New York area, but we can't find any info on him. His first name was Petro or Pedro or something similar to that..

My grandfather and his immediate family were listed in the 1900 Norwegian census, but his brother had already came to the USA.

My grandfather died in 1956 at the age of 69. He is buried in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

His father and my great grandfather was a brick mason by the way in Norway.

James K. Thronson

Hi,
Most church records in Norway are because of the protection of privacy not available after 1927, 80 years rule.

Perhaps the local newspaper Kragerø blad can help you, click on E-post Redaksjonen
or
Kragerø Historielag, click on "Ta kontakt" and send a E-mail to one of of the members of the board.

Kragerø is a town by the sea in Telemark county

Good luck

I don't know if you have seen your grandfathers birth record but here it is #18.
His parents Karl Emil Thronsen and Maren Elise Larsdatter were married in 1884, see #1.
Karl Emil was born in Christiania Oct 27 1846 and Maren Elise in Kragerø May 9 1847.
Maren Elises parents were Lars Jacob Evensen and Maren Margrethe Ellingsdatter, see her confirmation record #28

My great grandfather was also Hans Throndsen, I am told he came from around Olso or Drammen. He died in 1969 in Minneapolis, MN. He was married to Hilma Christensen from Olso and they had at least three children, Helen, Edward, and Norman (my grandfather).

Can anyone help me trace Hans or Hilma back to Norway?

Thanks!

If you are referring to the same Hans F. Throndsen that the original poster of this topic was inquiring about then the information is already above.
If you are not, it would be better to start a NEW thread of inquiry. (New Topic)

Include information that would help identify your Hans Throndsen in Norway, when born?, what year immigrated to US?, names and relationships of any other Norway born blood relatives known? married before or after immigrating to the US? Most of that information should have been available from US censuses.
