How did my GGrandfather travel to Red Wing Minnesota from Northern Norway in the year 1865? Did he come through the Port of Quebec (film # 0889440 to 0889467 for the years 1865 to 1899) then did he travel overland to Chicago or did he continue via ship to Chicago - then overland from Chicago to the Mississippi river to Red Wing Mn. All I need is a ship passenger manifest for Mathias (Karjenaho) Abrahamson born December 2, 1835 in Pulkkila Finland - he immigrated to Vadso Norway where he worked for several years before coming to America in 1865. Thank you - jams@lakedalelink.net - James Saari

Hello James

We have transcribed all the lists of Norwegian ships arriving to Quebec in 1865, and some fragments from steamers coming from ports in Britain. The transcriptions are added to our emigrant database, but I am not able to find your Mathias among them. Could he have departed as early as in 1864, or perhaps later than 1865?

No-one fitting the description in the 1865 cencus of Vadsø, so he probably didn't go later, at least not if he stayed there for years before he left...
