Well, I checked the LDS Family History Library Catalog, and could not see that they have churchbooks from Eid later than 1907.
It doesn't look like the books after 1907 have been scanned...

Oh. Well, then, I guess I've gone as far as I could with them right now. I'll work on the other family members then and see what I can find! |

I've got the Norwegian-English dictionary in my Favorites List, so I'm going back and forth when trying to read something! I thank you for the compliment!! I also don't know what made me look there.

Boalthhuset (The Boalth house)- also known as Yris hotell (Gjerde farm, Nordfjordeid).
Vilhelm Yri bought the "Boalth-house in Nordfjordeid in 1909 and renamed it Yris Hotell. (There was also a "Yris Hotell" in Olden, now driven by his two sons Sivert Yri (1880–1926) & Rasmus Yri (1883–1958)) Sivert ran that hotel, and Rasmus ran the local shop and postoffice.
Nordfjordeid, ca 1880:
The American multimillionaire and pictorial-artist William Henry Singer jr. (1868-1943) moved to Olden i 1913, and lived at the Yris Hotel for several years until he builded his own house "Dalheim" in 1921...

Well, because of the information on Sivert and Rasmus Yri, I was able to find the exact date for Sivert's death. The parish records don't go to 1958 for Rasmus's death record. Oh, well....I guess I can't have everything.
Guess I have to do more googling!! : ) Thanks!! |

Due to personal information protection, you will not find churchbook information covering deceased persons later than 1926. (Born/Christened until 1930).

Oh, ok. I guess that's a good reason for me not being able to find the records, then!
Thank you for all your help! |

Btw; Sivert died 46 years old, of what looks like appendicitis, bleeding stomach ulcer, while he was en route to Bergen, Norways 2nd biggest city, located south west of Olden.
A stressful job being a hotelowner...

Thank you for telling me that. 46 is way too young. That shouldn't have happened. |

Vilhelm's grandson Wilhelm (Will) Yri took over the properties in Nordfjordeid ("The Boalth house" / Yris Hotel) in 1940, and his descendants has owned the property and hotel ever since. Current owner is Winnie Yri.
The Hotel closed down it's business in the 1970's, but the main building is a protected historic building from 1923, and can not be "touched"...
Last summer (2006) a summer-restaurant was opened in the old Yris Hotel main building in Nordfjordeid city centre...

Thank you for all that information! It's cool that the main building is still there! I would love to visit Norway and see some of these places!! It's nice that something like that is still in the family!!
