Here is a little bit more information I found out about Gladys and Dorthea Erdahl. I thought of the Fessenden - A Centennial History 1893-1993 book that I own. It states the Levard Quarve married Oline Jaastad and adopted Gladys Erdahl, born Dec. 2, 1902 and Dorthea Erdahl, born on June 15, 1908. Sigrid Arnston ( Levard's mother) was born in Norway on August 2, 1859. Her husband's name was Timan Levard Quarve. It does not state where in Norway Sigrid was from. Anyway, just thought to add the information that the girls were adopted. |

Hi, for those of you who would like to read the book "The Coffee Train", chapter 8 is set on my parents farm. The old Lutheran Church has remodled and is quite nice, I have been in it a number of times. The remainder of the book is set in the Fesssend, North Dakota. In fact, the family always knew when it was coffee time when the train whistle sounded. |

Just thought I would let you know Wally that the neighboring town still blows the siren at noon and at six o'clock. I am not sure but I think Fessenden still does too. Some things never change! I do plan on reading the book. |

Kathyzeien and all, Using the site www.linkpendium.com I came across an Erdahl burried in the St Olaf Cemetery about 10 miles due north of Turtle Lake along state highway 41. She is listed as Gyda Erdahl and was born on Oct 26, 1874 and died on July 21, 1909. With the help of someone else, I found the name Gyda is Scandanavian for God. Later when the books author talks about her comfirmation, the preacher asks Margarethe Gyda Erdahl, can you stand against the devil. Is this a commom pracice to have the mother's name in a female child? I am also part English. It is quite common among male people. |

Hi, in final events, it seems the cemetery has Gyda's death wrong. Looking over the census for Mclean county, it would seem she was alive for the 1910 census, but died about 2 months later. |

Wally, On the Find a Grave website it list Gyda Erdahl's death date as July 21, 1910 and her birth date as Oct. 26, 1874. She is buried at Saint Olaf Lutheran cemetery in McLean County, ND which of course is where Turtle Lake is also. |
