I was able to obtain (through the kindness of someone a volunteer at Ancestry.com's message boards) a copy of my g-g-grandmother's christening record from a church in Stavanger. Is it possible someone could translate the column headings for me? I'll gladly email a scan of it to you.

You should be able to figure it out (and other records you will also obtain) with this dictionary especially for reading older records. If you are going to do Norwegian research, you should at least try to read the records. It is not hard, a few basic words, they are not narratives.

I see that you never replied to your first posting and acknowledged all the help people gave you here. One of the posters gave you the link to the online church records, you should be able to access more records from that link.

The link to the Stavanger baptismal record given to you in April 2007 on this website in answer to your first posting here is still completely functional. You can translate the church record formats one word at a time or study the translations of the church record headings within the following article -

This is a great aid. I was going to get a dictionary from the library, but this should really help. thanks
