I am looking for information on buands from the 1920's -1930's orginating from the songefjord, haflso area. I am particualry interested in the fabrics and meaning of the designs used in that era.
I have a bunad i inherited from my aunt and i have no i history on it and I have been asked to model and display and give a brief history on it. The bunad itself is simply designed and It has a black wool skirt with a green border with mountains and fjords embordered on it. The apron is black with orange and green stripes. The border on the apron is green, orange, and gold. The vest is a light green with gold brocade.
Anyone with any information would be welcomed.

Hi,

This might be a place for you to try. It's the bygdelag for Sognefjord and there should be someone from that group that would be able to answer your questions about the bunad.

Also, if you can't find anything through them, post a message on a board at rootsweb. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wgnorway/

Good luck! The Bunad sounds beautiful.
Take care

Use Google and search for "Bunad Hafslo" and you will get a lot of information - unfortunately most of it is in Norwegian - but that wouldn't be any problems, or would it?
