In record #19 that man isn't named Kristian Andreassen - that is a Christoffer Torgersen. The bride's last name is Andreasdtr or Andersdatter - not Johnsdatter.

Those names look like what you WANTED them to be above - but they don't match the marriage record above.

Those look like a Michael Aadnesen and Maria or Marta something to my eyes.
When you post links from the Digitalarkivet scanned records would you please copy the Permanent Page Link (not the Permanent Image Link) - that way we can see exactly where the records came from AND have full zoom capabilities. |

If Martha from Lier was born Febr 11 1881, she was actually baptized Marthe, see #51 her parents were Kristian Andreassen, Tveteneie farm and Sille Johansdatter. The parents were married Nov 21 1880, see #40 Kristians father was Andreas Hansen, Justadeie farm and Silles father was Johan Svendsen, Tveteneie farm. Silles birth record is #182 her mother was Marie Hansdatter, Tveta. Christians birth record is #3 his mother was Mari Knudsdatter, Justadeie. In 1865 Kristians family is here In 1865 Silles family is here

Sorry, I think that I was supposed to post this here? I'm a newbee...sorry about that.
Dear cousin Leta found my grandma's parents and grandparents! Leonard "Len" (Jen?) Welch married Martha Anderson (there's that name again, any links to the Andersons here?)
Christian and Celia Anderson were Martha's parents (or were their names Kristian and Sille?). Does anyone have any record of when they came to the USA? We are having a tough time trying to locate these folks, my great, great grandparents. I know I, as well as Leta, would love to find out this information. Anyone, please??? :D

A record from LDS is showing that Christian Andersen (Kristian Andreassen in Norway) and Sille Andersen (Sille Johansdatter in Norway) had a daughter Marie Jonette Andersen in 1886 in the US. Based on this the family must have left Norway some time between 1881 and 1886. They are not registered in the parish records from Lier in this period. |

I'd approach this "when did come to the US" question from "the other end". Where did they live in the US? What did you find for information in US census records? or and/or state census records? What year of immigration is listed for those persons? That should help narrow it down for you. |

Let me try this again since I just went to add my username in the form here and when I pushed enter, well, it posted it. Sorry about that.
As far as I know, they moved from Leer, NORWAY to Lier, MI, USA. But Martha was born in CANADA. I never found the information in census records Leta did and she's been so sweet to help me thus far!
OK, thank you! |

Canada? Leta said Martha was born in Norway and gave an exact birthdate and place there - Lier in Buskerud, Norway, see above. |

By the way, I was the one who actually found that birth date, not Leta! LOL! I forgot! I'm getting old. |

That has to be them but Marie? Do you think Martha went by Marie as well? Or did she have a sister? This is all so fascinating!!! I never, ever thought I'd find out so much information about my grandma's adoptive parents, let alone her biological ones too!!! Thank you to all who have and are helping me!!! |

I thought Martha's parents were listed in the 1900 US census and it showed them with several very young children - most born in the US. Wasn't Marie/Mary one of her younger sisters there? |

I just now found Marie/Mary as being one of her sisters at familysearch.org! They probably were in the 1900 US census because I also found out that Christian Andersen:
b. Dec 12 1851, Lier, Buskerud, NORWAY d. Aug 23 1943, Alpena, MI, USA |

Yes that's Marthe's grandfather, you will also find him at the 1865 census with his wife and Marthe's aunts and uncles, see here the grandparents were married in 1846, see #33 the ggrandfathers are Hans Hansen and Knud Ingebretsen. In the 1865 census you will also find Marthe's other grandparents, see here Johan and Marie were married 1847 see#22 their fathers and Marthe's ggrandparents were Svend Olsen and Hans Gulbrandsen.
