I am looking for descendants of Gertrude Asbjeld and her daughter Gertrude Stokke. They originally lived in Trondhjem. Gertudes's husband was Ludwig and her children were named Astrid and Lars.

You didn't provide too much information, so maybe we can get started with Gertrude Stokke. The 1920 US census for North Dakota, has a widow named Gertrude and her children. She is from Norway and immigrated in 1891. Do you think this is the right person?

Here is a Gertrud Stokke, listed in the 1900 Norway Census for Trondhjem, Sør Trøndelag, born 1872. She is living here as a housemaid.

Digitalarkivet seems to be having problems right now, so further searching does not work for me.

Census-1910 for McHenry, North Dakota shows these people:

Andrew Stokke, b 1861
Gertie Stokke, b 1873
Gustav Stokke, b 1898
Elmer Stokke, b 1901
Adolph Stokke, b 1903
Thelma Stokke, b 1904
Bertha Stokke, b 1905
Iver Stokke, b 1906
Gina Stokke, b 1908
Dominie Stokke, b 1910

A possibility for Gertrude Stokke's husband:

Andreas Stokke (26) from Inderøy, Nord-Trøndelag, emigrating to St. Thomas, Dakota on 13-Mar-1889.

Btw; what sources do you have for the first Gertrude being named "Asbjeld"? That is a farmname, and could come from the Aspjeld farm in Orkdal, Sør-Trøndelag. But it could be her married name.

Did Gertrude Asbjeld also emigrate?
Gertrude Stokke is listed as immigrated in 1891, according to the 1920-census.

Gertrude Steppe(Stokke) can be found in the 1930 North Dakota Census also, age 38(should be 58) She appears as head of household, with Adolph, Bert, Iver, and Edwin. A daughter in-law (which I think is Adolph's wife) and granddaughter are listed.

The immigraion year for Gertrude, this census, is given as 1900. Probably incorrect.

I have not been able to find them in the 1900 ND census, or the South Dakota censuses.

There is also a Stokke farm in Sør Trøndelag, Strinden.
