I am trying to figure out some family info on my great-great-great grandfather's family. My great-great grandfather's name was Peter Johnson and he was born August 21, 1859. His parents were John Johnson Storoien and Marit Staaloien. John born: May 26, 1825 and died: February 07, 1898. Marit born: September 13, 1824 and died: February 07, 1907. I know that Peter had one brother John Johnsen Storoien born in 1848. I am wondering if there were any other children in this family. They came and homesteaded in Osakis, MN in about the 1870's I think (not sure). Any help would be great! Thanks!
One other thing I will mention is that John Johnson Storoien parents were John Olsen Stokke born: 1785 and died: 1874 and Anne Gilsaamo born: 1782 and died: 1856. Don't know if this will help, but I thought I would add it anyways! Thanks!

The baptismal record for Peters brother John is #41 he was born Jan 14 on the Stordahl farm and baptized at home by John Olsen (his grandfather), this was confirmed in church Jan 30.
the parents marriage record is #35
Married June 11 1847, John 22 years came from Storøien, his father John Olsen. Marith 23 years from Stordahl, her father Peder Olsen.
Peders record is #35 he was born Aug 20 on the Storøien farm and baptized Sept 18.
Very strange - they did not have any children in 10 years - I do not think I have overlooked any.

Just to use another set of eyes I want to say what I read the dates as and could somebody else verify or correct me! John and Marit were married June 11, 1847, John (Peter's brother) was born Jan 14th and baptised Jan 30th. Am I correct?

Thanks!

I was just studying the census record from 1865 and it looks like Johns father John Stokke was living with the rest of the family. I see the parents John and Marit and the two sons: John and Peder. And using my Norwegian/English dictionary I figured out that Ane was a servant girl. So it seems very likely that the only children of John and Marit were John and Peder. Is this likely???

Did the Grandson John Johnsen b. 10 Sep 1869 (parents John Johnsen Storøien* & Sigrid Johnsdatter) emigrate to America also?

Yes, he is registered on the ship "Dampskibet Norway" together with uncle Peder and paternal grandparents.

Is it likely that the reason John Johnsen is leaving with his Uncle and grandparents is because his father and likely his mother were both dead?

Did Peter's brother John Johnsen Storøien born 1848 also emigrate to America?
This looks like him and wife Sigrid with sons in census-1880 for Gordon, Todd, Minnesota.

And this could be them emigrating from Trondheim on 27 Apr 1871. Destination reads St Claud.

However, he is named Ingvalsen Bakken in the emigration protocol.
And why did they leave the other John in Norway?
Maybe they thought it was too risky to bring two infants over the Atlantic, so they left the oldest in Norway, and Peder brought him over the year after...?

I am sure that Peter's brother did not emigrate because the records that I have say that He died in 1869 making it impossible for him to emigrate in 1871 or 1872 when his parents, brother, and child emigrated. I don't know when his wife died though...

I just wanted to mention that the name I have for John Johnsen's wife is Sigrid Stordalsvold and I would imagine this is the same person as Sigrid Johnsdatter Stordal.

Peter's brother did NOT die in Norway. He and Sigrid were MARRIED in 1869. He and his wife DID emigrate to America in 1871! and his parents, brother and son most likely DID come the next year in 1872! Connections are being made! John died in the USA and then his wife moved to Mohall, ND.
