Note: Mina's brother, Lars, was the topic of a previous posting by Gordon McMann. The information from his posting has been very helpful, but I still have a few questions.

Mina Mikkelsdatter was my grandmother. She was born in 1874 to Mikkel Jenssen and Karen Poulsdatter at Stor-Deglum farm, Furnes Parish, Hedmark. She emigrated 20 Mar 1891 to West Salem on the Angelo, but I cannot find record of her arrival in the U.S.

Is there a record of her birth? Is the Stor-Deglum farm still in existence?

My sister and I plan a trip to Norway summer 2009. Although I believe all of Mikkel and Karen's children emigrated, I would like to know if there are others related to this family who would be interested in Mina and her American family. How would I contact a newspaper with this request?

Thank you for any information. Judy Foley

The baptismal recorfor Mina is #22
she was born April 30 and baptized June 7.
Mina was confirmed March 31 1889, see #21 She was then "old enough to move out from the family, so she could leave to her siblings.
Her sister Karoline emigrated in 1882, see #6
The brother Jens in 1888 see #14 (birth year?)

Thank you for the above information and records. I hadn't found any of these records. I do have a photo of the farm, but not the aerial view which makes the location much clearer. Judy Foley
