(uggh - replying to self because hit send before finished! - sorry)

This is my first request for information - so if I'm breaking any rules please nicely correct me!

I'm looking for the information where my great grandmother
Emeli Reiersdater Olsen Høgelie b abt 1850 (family lore says it's 1851) married / had kids with (probably Julius, Carl Julius or Carl Gustav) FRIIS. Emeli later married a Rhinehart Pete Hanson who was born in Norway around 1853. (I have no more info on him and am very unsure if what I do have is accurate, but he was known as Pete Hanson in the US). (Until yesterday, we did not have correct spelling of Hogelie)

Emeli had the following kids
Julius Theodore Friis aka Pete Hanson Jr and Pete Hanson (basically used his step-fathers name). Apparently his wife (Alice Carey) found out his real name when they married before that she didn't know his name was Julius. Family rumor says he was born on a ship - date of b maybe 12-19-1885.

Thorval Friis - b 9-8-1878 (sailor by trade)b in Norway we think - but may have gone by Tom/Dudley in states?

Henry Hanson b in US abt 1888

Robert Hanson b in US abt 1892

Emeli is buried in Evergreen Cemetary in NY, d. 1939, but her name is spelt differently because no one in the family at the time of death knew how to spell it. She only spoke Norweigian.

I'm trying to figure out the marriage between Emeli and (unknown) Friis.

I do have Emeli living in Stavanger at 1865 censes with her parents and some siblings.

Also, have a FRIIS family living in Stavanger in 1865 (which in theory is where family is from) with names that seemingly match based on what she named kids, but right now no connection between the two families. The parents at that household are Julius Theodore Friis b 1827 & Johanna b 1828. Their kids are listed as Johan Andreas b 1855, Janna b 1857, Trine b 1860, Julius (think also went by Carl Julius) b 1862, Elisabeth b 1864. There is also a Carl Gustav Friis b 1867 that shows up on military ships rolls - I believe traveling with Julius/Carl Julius b 1862.

These parents can be found at the 1900 census, but the kids can't be found.

If anyone has ANY information on any of this, PLEASE clue me in!!!

Thanks,

Thanks for the info on the books - I have photocopied information from some of those.

I have more information that may help someone locate the missing info.

Julius Theodore Friis b 3/26/1863 married a Marie - they show up in an ellis island search in 1918.

So in all probablity the marriage records we're looking for would be between his younger brother Carl Gustav Emil Friis b 6/4/1867 (he also used the name Karl Juliussen Friis and Emili Reiersdater Olsen Hogelie b Oct? 1850. Also looking for where they left NOrawy or arrived in America, although I keep hitting dead ends.

The emmigrants from Stavanger 1825-1970 does show
Karl Juliussen Friis (no year is given and it does not indicate wether married or not - his occupation is listed as seaman?)
his older brother

Johan Andreas Friis b. 5/21/1856 is listed above him with a date of depature listed as ?1884 - he is indicated as married - and occupation listed as sailmaker? (his father was also a sailmaker if my translations are correct.

There was a children of Emili Hogelie and we believe (K)Carl Gustav Emil Juliussen Friis are

Thorval Friis - b 9-8-1878 - in Norway, but can't find records. presumably the Emili/Carl marriage took place before this. Both families lived in Stavager.

Julius Theodore Friis (also used name Pete Hanson Jr) b 12-19-1985
because of names we believe dad died before he was born, or when he was very young? So it is possible that he never made it to the US - Julius/Pete Jr is rumored to have been born aboard ship. (this is my gt grandfather and I would love to know accurate information as he was known for storytelling)

Emili Hogelie married Rhinehart Pete Hanson (unsure when) and had the following kids (half brothers to children above). Rhinehart Pete Hanson was born in Norway?, but I believe married in the US.

Hennry / Harry Hanson - b abt 1/??/1888 in US
Robert Hanson - b abt 1892

Any clues where to go from here?

Thanks.
