Simon was born in Lillehammer in January of 1826. Anne was supposedly born in Fredrikshald on September 8, 1823. Simon's family moved to the Oslo and they resided there until they joined Reverend C. L. Clausen's group who came to America. They departed in 1853.

My information says that Anne Magdalena was the daughter of Berte Jensdatter and Elias Nelsson, but gives no other information about them - from Denmark, Sweden, or Norway?

I would really like to find out who they were and as much information as I could possibly gather. Any information would be greatly appreaciated. We have Anne listed as an only child. Additional family lore says that Elias was a ship's captain.

Any information anyone could help me with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Barb

Boy, thanks so much for your help. This certainly seems to be the couple, but I don't know how to find out any other information about them. Is there a way to find out who Berte Jensdatter's parents were?

Thank you.

Anne Magdalena Eliasdatter was born Sept 8 1823 and baptized Anne Magdelene on July 25 1824. See #41
her parents were Matros (Seaman) Elias Nielsen and his wife Berte Jensdatter.
Elias and Berte married Febr 15 1822, see #5
Elias was then 24 years old and came from Halden. Berte (Birte) was 33 years old.
Anne Magdalene was confirmed Oct 6 1839, see #13

You can look up her marriage with Elias in Halden on 15 FEB 1822, to see if her father is listed. Source: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read

Or you can sit down and relax and wait until eibache do the lookup for you. But then you miss the fun by searching yourself...

Again, thank you for the information. I did look at the marriage of Elias and Birte in 1822; however, I am not at all familiar with the pieces of information. For example, in the third column (the one after the entry about Birte), there is some information, but I can't read or understand what it says.

The names of the witnesses are given in the column, the best I can do reading these names: Hans Olsen, Eeg Tømmermand (Timberman) Aanen Olsen, Sund - begge med holdt Pen (both with helped pen).

Barb -
The formats of the Norwegian church records through the various time periods have been translated and put online for your study. That will help you understand a great deal more.
