I am trying to find any information on my great grandfather John Hansen. He was some sort of marineer, as I know he was aboard the W T Harward in oct 1877, as my grandfather was born on it. He also married Julia Harrington in Jan 1877 in Newport south wales. He was born about 1847 in Norway.
I have no information prior to 1877.

Perhaps a shot in the dark.
The only John Hansen born about 1847 in relating to the sea I could find in the 1865 census is this John age 19, sea man on farm Øklandsvaag in Moster sub parish in Finnås municipality, todays Bømlo municipality, Hordaland County (western Norway) born to Hans Johnsen and Helga Pedersdatter, he had three sisters.

I can´t find him in the 1900 census.
