looking for record of emigration:
Ludvig N. (louis) son of Nils Borreson, born jan 26, 1857 loiten
farm=Hammeren
sailed 1879 for Wisconsin.
his last name could be Hammer or Nilsen

In the 1910 US census he is listed as coming to the US in 1881.

yes I saw that but he had a brother Matt(mathias Hammer) who sailed that year in 1881. Louis or ludvig(as was his name in the birth record(1857 loiten) sailed in 1879. in the 1900 census for L N Hamma is shows he sailed 1879.(middle name most likely Nils after nils father Nils borresen of Ringsaker.
Matt came over with another passenger Mathea Lars dau who is on the emigration record as well. he and she married in Tremealeau county Wisconsin about 1882.
I did find a US passport for Ludvig
Ludvig(louis) married . Mr. Hammer was married November 7, 1885 to Lena Trondson, who was born in Trempealeau County, daughter of Anders and Agnethe Trondson. Her parents were both natives
I cannot find the parents,census in archives.
Ludvig went back to norway 1906. I don't know why.

ludvig (louis) sailed on the 'Bremen" oct 10, 1879 to USA. naturalized march 5, 1895.
