Hello again! I just learned that my great-great grandfather, Gust Sunde, emigrated here from Norway. I don't know much else, except that he first married my great-great grandmother, Marne Brenne? either here in Minnesota or in Norway. She died around 1898, when my great-grandmother was 2 or 3, in Herman, MN. Any information you can find on either of them? Thanks! Shari

Some indication of year would be nice. If they were married in Norway they probably came from the same parish. Farm names Sunde and Brenne can be found in Alstadhaug, Skogn Nord-Trøndelag.
Gust could be Gustav
and Marne could be Maren
They were both born approx 1862.

Hi,
I'm in the possession of farmhistory books from Skogn, and Gustav Sunde is mentioned there.

Gustav is born 04 July 1862. His parents was Haldor Andersen Sunde & Guruanna Bertilsdatter Stormo. Haldor conveyed the property Sunde Nedre on November 24th, 1855.

Haldor Andersen Sunde, b. 10 Nov 1811 - d. 24 Apr 1887, father Anders Lambrigtsen Sunde (1774-1816).
Haldor married Guruanna Bertilsdatter By on 30 Oct 1851
Guruanna Bertilsdatter By, b. 28 Aug 1826 - d 29 May 1917, father Bertil Sørensen Sørmo

Haldor & Guruanna's children:
1. Baronline 27 Mar 1852, married Kristoffer Andreassen Brenne
2. Andrea 03 Aug 1854, married Hans Andreassen Hallan
3. Jonas 14 Dec 1856 - 22 Jan 1885
4. Anders 02 Oct 1859 - 24 Jul 1902. Next owner.
5. Gustav 04 Jul 1862
6. Bernhardt 15 Nov 1864 - 26 Jan 1887
7. Henriette 01 Sep 1867
8 Godtfred 17 Oct 1870

Here is a picture of Gustav's brother Anders Haldorsen Sunde:

Gustav's nieces (daughters of Anders H.S.):

Borghild (1890-1975) & Helga (1888-1971) Sunde.

The Brenne farm is next to Sunde, but I'm not so sure if she is the one linked to above, because this Maren (daughter of Jonas Rasmussen Brenne & Oline Jensdatter Skei) is listed as dead in 1880, according to the same bygdebook.
