I would like to find the birth and death record of my ancestor Christen Olsen. I have the following information but would like to verify: Birth 22 August 1751 Kleiverud. Death 9 July 1830 Nyhusom.

I think I have found the birth of two Christens in this time period and I am wondering if either is my Christen. Vågå 1739 - 1810, page 24. 1st column 2nd from bottom and 2nd column, 1st record.

As to the death record I am not sure which parish to search. Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention Christen's Father was Ole Christensøn (Kleiverud) and his Mother was Anns Olsdatter (Mæhlum)

A Christen Olsen was baptized on Aug 22 1751 in Vågå, see top record in second column
his father was Ole Christensen. Could not tell if he was living at Kleiverud.
The Christen in the first column was baptized Aug 15 - I believe his father was Ole Knudsen.
In the 1801 census one Christen Olsen , 50 years old, is married to Dorthe Enersdatter, is this your man?

In 1774, Christen had a son (Poul) born out of wedlock . I have him married to Kari Engebretsdatter 16 July 1780. It could be him.

Thanks for the information. Where would I search for his death?

If your Christen was married to Kari Engebretsdatter, their marriage record is the 8th from top in th left column on the right hand page
Christen (here called Esten = short for Chresten=Christen) and his family at Klevrud Nordre in 1801
The baptismal record for his son Ingebret, bapt. Febr 17 1782, says that the father was Xten Klevrud.
I have Ole Christensen, son of Christen Kleverud, bapt. Sept 25 1774, see bottom record in right column on left hand page
I have not seen any "uægte" Poul in 1774.

sorry for this, Ole was born in 1780, not 1774. And of course you are right regarding the "uægte" Poul.

Would this be the death record for Christen's father, Ole Christensen? Vågå 1739 - 1810 page 196. last column 23 entry for 1790.

Since Christen was born in 1751 and this Ole Xstensen was 85 years in 1790 he might very well be Christens father, but you cannot be sure. Normally the first son of Ole Xstensen would have been Christen Olsen, - question: was his first son born when he was 46 years old?

I have found the information I have been quoting on the following web site http://www.bredebygden.com/Garder/Aasaaren/Nedre%20Aasaaren.htm
Please take a look and see if you think I am going in the correct direction. I am attempting to verify as much of this as I can. I feel very confident up to and including the "uægte" Poul Christensen, he was my great-great-great grandfather.

I really appreciate all of your help

You have a wealth of information with these websites. The originators are also interested in recieving additional information.
Poul Christensens mother Gunild Poulsdatter was baptized Dec 5 1745, see next to the last record in right column on left hand page her father being Poul Loftsgaard. (Paul Svendsen who was married to Rønnaug Pedersdatter).
Yes, as I understand it you are going in the right direction. Feel free to ask for further help.

I can take the descendants of Poul Christensen, through Hans Hansen Pillarviken, to the USA in 1881 and some of the lines, including mine of course, to the present. would they be interested in this much information? If so how do I get it to them?
