This site is top notch. For newbies (and those of us that are still learning), it would be helpful to have either an item in newbies that included five of the links I use most often and see often pointed out to newbies:

Adding them to Links would at least centralize them. The Articles for newbies area might be a place that they look.

Several of those are in Links already but I agree that reorganizing or putting more emphasis on their presentation might be helpful.

To help someone learn how to do their own Norwegian ancestral research is to give them a wonderful lifelong hobby. I mean to praise your intention in this post. In fact, I applaud!!

I keep a bookmark/favorites collection of "Links for Newbies" that I give out constantly and I'll add a few more below that I think well worth inclusion.

Tips on Using the Digitlarkivet
Writing a Good Query
Spelling for Genealogists
Getting into the Norwegian census
Census abbreviations

I also have a few paragraphs that I have written to help people learn to use and link to the scanned church record images on the Digitalarkivet that I copy and post on a regular basis but I do not maintain my own website and therefore am unable to give a link for those.

Thanks for the links!

As many of you know, we have a "links" section here on the Norway heritage forum. ( Links ). Every member of the forum can add new links with a description to that section. You will also be able to add comments to what is already posted. It would be great if people would submit their favorite links there.

If someone have written god articles and such we would also be happy to publish them here on the Norway heritage site.
