Here is what we know of Ben in the USA: 1 Ben Bergerson
Birth: Dec 1878, Norway Death: 4 Jan 1958, Hennepin County, Minnesota Father: Bergerson (-<1900) Mother: Olivia Holm (1863-1934)
On Jun 4, 1900 Bennie-21 lived with his mother. His date of birth is given as Dec 1878.
On June 14, 1905 Ben-25 lived with his mother and siblings in Eglon, Clay County, Minnesota. They were Olivia-52, Mary-28, Ole-20, John-17, Edwin-16, Henry-11 and Emma-10. Mary and Ben were born in Norway, the younger children were born in Minnesota.
On May 4, 1910 Ben-29 and Gertie-23 and daughter Myrtle-4 lived at 301 Seventh Avenue South in Moorhead Ward 2, Clay, Minnesota. Ben’s brother John-24 lived with them. Ben and his brother were house moving contractors. Gertie’s sister and her husband Petra and Andrew Eide appear on the same page of the 1910 Census.

Dave, Just a short question, both the 1900 US Census and the Minnesota Territorial Census for 1905 give Olivia's birth year as 1853. The 1900 US Census lists June 1853. I notice that you have 1863 listed in your post as her birth year. |

The 1900 and1910 censuses had entries for year of immigration to the US. What was the information given for that? |

We have Ben and his mother... I was wondering where Ben's father might be, he is not mentioned, did he stay in Norway, what about the Ben's new brothers and sisters? Just seems strange. Thanks.

Olivia Bergerson (nee Holm) what we know as of 082709 with corrections:

Spouse: Olivia Holm Birth: Jun 1853, Norway Death: 7 Jan 1934, Clay County, Minnesota
In 1900, 1920 Olivia indicated she emigrated from Norway in 1882.
On June 14, 1905 the Bergerson’s lived in Eglon, Clay County, Minnesota. They were Olivia-52, Mary-28, Ole-20, John-17, Edwin-16, Henry-11 and Emma-10. Mary and Ben were born in Norway, the younger children were born in Minnesota.
In 1910 the widow Olive-56 lived in Eglon, Clay, Minnesota. Three of her sons; Henry-16, John-22 and Peder-20 lived at home. Olive indicated she emigrated from Norway in 1883.
In 1920 Henry-26 was a single head of household on the farm at Eglon, Clay, Minnesota. Living with him was his mother Olivia-66, brother John-32 and sister Emma-24.
n 1930 Olivia-76 lived in Eglon, Clay Minnesota with three of her sons, John-42, Henry-47 and Ole-45, none of whom were married.

There are not a lot of good matches in the ancestry.com immigration records for Bergerson, however the best of the lot is this one.

About 20 days before that arrival in Philadelphia the departure of this family group from Oslo/Kristiania - Bergersen family
Research in Åsnes parish of Hof district, Hedmark, Norway.

Did your Bergersons have a relative in the same area who was already established before Olivia and her family arrived in Minnesota. See the 1880 US Census.

Here is a WWI draft registration for Bernhard Bergerson, I had hoped it would include his fathers name but does not only his wife Gertie. From Ancestry.com.

This is very likely Ben's father, his name is spelled Ole Bergersen but his is living in Eglon, Clay, Minnesota with
Olivia age 43 Bernard age 16 Ole O age 11 John age 7 Edwin age 5 Henry age 2 Emma age 7 months
