My name is Erik Jensen and I am looking for relatives of my father, Hans Jensen.
He died in Lyskar Hospital in 1978 and was buried in Rossebo Kirkegard.
Many Thanks.

Would be much easier if you could tell when he was born.

Rossabø is a parish in Haugesund. I searched for his grave there, and found this:
Hans Selmer Jensen, born 25.06.1909, died 20.12.1978, buried 28.10.1978, Vår Frelser gravlund, Haugesund
Buried date is before died date, so one of the dates is wrong. But I think this must be right person.

Hello Harald,
Many thanks for the information. This is my fathers grave you have found. I have another piece of paper that looks like a receipt for the burial payment. It is headed Haugesund Kommune, Kirkevergen.
It reads; Selmer Jensen's askeurne er blitt nedsatt på Vår Frelsers gravlund I-K-32 den 19. april 1979 kl.10.00 av gravlundsformann Borge Vestvik.
Unfortunately, I do not speak Norwegian so I can only assume that it is a receipt. Can you help further with a translation please.

I also have what I think is his death certificate and the dodsdato (date of death ?) is given as 20-12-1978, so you have created a mystery!

He probably died at Lysskar Hospital 20 Dec 1978. His body was cremated, and the cinerary urn was put down in the grave 19 April 1979 by warden Borge.

There is still a hospital at Lysskar. In 1998 it was reorganized and called Haugaland DPS Lysskar. The main organisation is called: Helse Vest RHF,Nådlandskroken 11,4034 Stavanger
E-mail: helse@helse-vest.no

You may write and ask if they can help you.
You may also write to the warden of the graveyard in Haugesund, Torvald M Haugen. According to the Haugesund church contact page, his e-mail address should be torvald.m.haugen@haugesund.kirken.no

Hello Harald,
Once again, thank you for finding out this info. This is all eye opening stuff for me. How do I go about finding if there are living relatives? Did Leif marry and have children?

Hello Einar,
thank you for that info about his sister, I had no idea. I have a document that mentions a Solveig Stålesen as being a beneficiary of my fathers estate, payments were also made to Lysskar hospital, church warden and myself and my sister Astrid.
Solveig is listed in this document as living in a place called Chidlow in Western Australia. I can only assume she married a Mr Stålesen and emigrated to Australia. I have Googled it and it is just outside Perth. I wonder if they have living relatives.

Hello Jan Peter, thank you for the translation. It is most helpful and enlightening to know that folks like you Einar and Harald can uncover info for me, I am very grateful.
