May not have the right name. She had a son, Fred Marius Andresen with Elinus Andresen. Fred was my grandfather. Have been in contact with Nowali-another member on this site-and am trying to find out more information about Gudrun-my great-grandmother who I never knew...and who my grandfather, Fred, never knew. Gudrun lived in Illinois, if this helps, and Fred was born in 1906. She had another son, Jack Laugen, who was Fred's half-brother. [ I know that either Jack, or the son, worked at Coe College in Iowa. Anyone know anything??? Thanks, Sonja |

The Gudrun Laugen you are looking for is most likely Gudrun Martins. Laugen who emigrated May 30 1906 (with the same ship as Elinus Andresen = Elenius Dorteus Andreas. Lundring) see #125808 and #125817 If Fred (Gotfred/Godfred) is the one born Nov 29th, 1906 in Minneapolis Minnesota, and his father in 1910 was a widower, your Gudrun may have died in the meantime. |

Gudrun Martinsdatter was born July 4 1889, see #25 (It may be of interest that the first name of one of the witnesses is Gothfred) Gudruns father Martin Sivertsen, his parents and siblings in 1865 Gudruns mother Martha Maria Isaksdatter, her parents and siblings in 1865 Martha Marias baptismal record is #19

Arne Sigurd who travelled with Gudrun in 1906 was born 1887, not 1878.

I think Arne and Gudrun travelled in 1906. Here is the arrival record for Sigurd. She is listed one line below Gudrun. He is listed as going to Virginia, Minnesota.
Name: Ligard Martinus Laugen Arrival Date: 17 Jun 1906 Age: 19 Years Estimated Birth Year: abt 1887 Gender: Female Ethnic Background: Scandinavian Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Ship Name: Cymric Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts Friend's Name: Peter Langan Last Residence: Norway

Challenging change of name Anton, good finding; Ligard Martinus Laugen - Sigurd Martinsen Laugen.
Friends name Peter Langan could be his half brother Peder (Jacobus Johannesen) Laugen who emigrated the year before to Virginia, Minnesota.
I have unconfirmed information that Gotfred Stavseth b. 1870 either died 1905 in N.Y or March 27. in N.D.

When I looked closer at this family the names Juul, Nordahl and Bruun turned up.
Gudrun´s mother, Martha Isaksdatter born 1846 was born to Isak Johansen Juul born 1825 in Nærøy. His father was Johan Nordahl Juul bap. Johan Nordahl on Aug. 27.1780 in Vår Frue church in Trondheim, now lives on Øksningen in Nærøy. Parents; Deceased (died Sept 5. 1800) "Godseier" Landovner/Squire Jacob Bentzon Juul and Catharina Bruun bap. in Klæbu in Sør Trøndelag county Dom 3 p. Trinit (June 27) 1750 to Monsr. (Mr) Brun, Catharina died Mai 31. 1821.
I assumed then after have been taken a closer look at LDS records Catharina Bruun (Catharina Svendsdatter Nordahl Bruun) was the sister of Bishop and the famous writer Johan Nordahl Bruun born in Trondheim which among other things wrote the anthem of Bergen "Eg tok min nystemte sitar i hende".
Both had the same parents acc. the LDS records; Svend Bush Bruun and Mette Nordahl.

Actually Isak Johansen Juul was born July 14 1725, see #12. His mother was Martha Marie Olsdatter and the family lived at Ramstad. Isak was a twin, his brother was Abraham (#11). At the time Johan Nordahl was baptized his father was a merchant, see #36 and they were living in Strand Gaden. |
