Looking for info about ancestors to Ruth Bull b.Sept. 1, 1897.
She married (between 1910 and 1920 I think) with Andrew Fannen / Fannon and they have three children, Andrew, Wilma and Chuckie. They lived in Winnebago, Ill .
I do not know if she was born in US or emigrated from Norway as a child. It is possible that she had a middle name with initials M. She had a sister named Edna.
Ruth died ab. 1988.

The 1920 US census shows Andrew H. [Fannan] and Ruth M. and their first child, Andrew, living in the household of her parents in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Ruth is listed as 23 yrs old, born in Illinois.
Her parents appear to be father = Obed A. Bull, 53 yrs old, born Illinois, his mother and father both born in New York state; mother = Eltre??, 46 yrs old, father born England, mother born New York.

The young child Andrew is listed as 10 months old and born in Iowa.

Thank you for quick answer.
Then her father was born in 1868, and in Illinois as you write. Obed is not a Norwegian name, but that might have nothing to say. Since he was born in Illinois there might bee his parents who might emigrated to US. It will bee interesting to try to find where they came from.

The 1870 census for Winnebago County, Illinois appears to show young 'Obea' Bull in his parents household with siblings.
Father = Israel Bull, 36 yrs old, born New York, occupation farmer
Mother = Eliza, 27 yrs old, born New York
Children = Almira, F, 11 yrs; Sarah, F, 9 yrs; George, M, 7 yrs; Obea, M, 4 yrs; Nettie, F, 2 yrs.

The 1880 census is the first that collects the birthplaces of each persons parents and is free for you to explore on your own, so I'll just leave you with that additional information from the 1870.

Thank you again, you have been to great help.
Israel then was born ab.1844, and in US. Israel are not a name used in Norway and I 'dont think he would have been given that name from Norwegian parents. But I'll look up on 1880 census where his parents are born.
Thank's again. :)

Just for info: More than 900 times the name Isreal have been registered in parish records and censuses for persons born between 1730 and 1865.

There is quite a bit of information to be found on this family online. Here are two links, one to a picture of the gravestone of Israel Alfred Bull and one to Obed Alfred Bull.
