I cross checked a name from a letter i have with the 1865 census for Fjelberg. it came up positive, it is my g. grandfather. Kåre the map you sent is great. It makes me think that in 2005 I was near there. I drove from Bergen to Skånevik E39 E134 to see the farm my grandfather was born on, Sjøhus near Kyrping Another g. grandparent came from Etna Grindeim. Next trip i see them all. again thanks to all James

Torkel Tollevsen, Svalland was baptized Oct 13 1765, see #52
Torkel (Torchild) and his parents Tollev Olsen and Helga in 1801
Lars Tollevsen at the same census is most likely Torchilds brother.

I am happy for you James.
You were so close from Trondahaugen.
Perhaps time for a return one day?

Kyrpinge was a famous farm in the middle age.
Erling Skakkke Kyrpinge- Ormsson was born on Stødle in Etne, his father Orm Sveinsson was born on Kyrpinge (not important but the familtree is incorrect, nr 6 Skuli is not the son of the English earl Toste Goodwinsson).

Sjøhus "Seahouse" means the farm was at the beach

We had a topic from Grindheim her in N.H. less than a year ago (could be from another family).

Kåre

How many years of records did you already check? Which parish books? What was the last proven date when he was alive? His wife is listed as widow in 1865 census.

Have you made efforts to get the information about Svalland farm residents that may be in the Ølen bygdebøker?
