The more information you can provide about the family members you are hoping to locate the better.

If you search Ancestry.com for Bolstad, you turn up 500 or so people. It would help greatly if you could tell us where and when your great-grand parents lived. That is what US city and an approximate time frame, as well as names of the grand-parents and the names of their children and birth years when known. I infer from your post that your great-grand father used the last name of Bolstad and before she married your great-grandmothers maiden name was Ericson. Is that correct and if so what are their first names and where did they live when reaising their children and approximately when did they live there.

Your familyname Bolstad comes most likely from a male emigrant.
Male emigrants named Bolstad´s from Oslo to Boston contains 10 persons from 1898-1928.

There were a huge Bolstad emigration from Bergen, western Norway, from 1874-1928, totally 212 persons from both sexes.

Previous male Bolstad emigrants from 1837-1873 contains about 40 persons .

Do you know about when your ancestor emigrated?
He married a Ericson?
Ericson could be a Swede or americanized from the Norwegian Ericsen.

You don´t have a first name?
