They were living temporarily on the Fredrikstad place per the 1900 census. See:#9590

Thank you. Any ideas on how to look forward to find their descendants? Seems just as hard to go forward as backward!

Thanks - I did not know about the first 2 children - they did not show up on the 1900 census so maybe they were already married at that time. I tried looking for marriage records for the rest and only was able to find Petrine.

Was hoping to go forward and find some of their descendants still in Fredrikstad - with the whole family history done of course! :)

Norway also has privacy laws which restrict the public release of records. The US has a limit of 72 years before public release of a federal census and for Norway that is 100 years. Church records are limited by a time period before they can be released too, etc.

I'm the only member of my family in the US who has been interested enough to work on our family history. I've encountered several distant cousins in Norway and the US because of my research but I've never gone looking for living relatives. We were researching the same ancestral line and accidentally discovered each other.

I don't seem to find any records for anyone after Janna was confirmed in Vestre Fredrikstad Oct 1902.

I can not find the children or parents Fredrik Severin Iversen or Anne Marie Berntsdatter.

Any suggestions on where to look or how to proceed?

Thanks

#29 looks like Karl Axel Gustavson was born and confirmed in Sweden and his father was Gustav Adolf Larsen?

I guess they could have returned to Sweden after the marriage?

Hi,

One tactic which might work in tracking down living relatives is sending a letter of inquiry to the local newspaper in Norway. My mother sent a letter and two old photos in 1984 or so and got a positive response because of the photos. But you will probably have to hurry as newspapers are dropping like flies these days or altering their formats to survive.

You might also see if there is a local genealogical society for Fredrikstad and contact them.

Good Luck!
