Trying to find records of what port and ship Gudbrand Ostensen, his wife Ingr and maybe had a child Osten age 2-3 years old. They were from Oppland, Norway and left in 1859 to Wisconsin USA.
Thank You

Hello Charles
It is not possible to determine for sure which port they departed from, and on which ship they traveled on from official Norwegian or Canadian records. This is because the records in Norway did not start before in 1867, and the Canadian records are only kept from 1865. People from Oppland would normally go via Christiania (you did not say where in Oppland), so there are a few possible alternatives concerning what ship they were on:

Drøbak, Capt. Johnsen - Christiania Apr. 18 - Quebec May 29
De tre Brødre, Capt. Berg - Christiania - Quebec May 24
Christiane, Capt. Fredriksen - Christiania Apr. 30 - Quebec June 20
Nordlyset, Capt. Hansen - Christiania May 4 - Quebec June 18

Do you have any other leads?

For the leads all I have is Gudbrand Ostenson and Ingri Amundsdr were married 14 Nov 1855 in Nord Fron, Oppland. The Christening of their son Osten Gudrandsen was 20 Apr 1856 Sodorp, Oppland. I think Sodorp is a parish. They also might of had another daughter by the name of Tolene.

You could try getting access to films of church records from Nord Fron, Oppland, - containing lists of out-migrants. That might give some indications. If they registered to get a passport that might also give some additional info. Another possibility is to check if there are Bygdebooks for Nord Fron, they might also contain a lot of interesting information about your family, and in some cases they also give info about the emigration.
