Hi everyone.

I have found my Grandfather (J A Abrahamson) to be on the ship or Mariner The "Regina" in the Australia ship records,

From the PORT OF FREDERICKSTADT TO SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES,
16TH AUGUST 1883

however I am seeking further information about the ship, its departure and loading, its destinations other than Sydney Aust. Any Name changes the ship may have had?

The Captain was ANTON BROULUND

Ship was fairly large too for its time 826 TONS.

Regina the name of the ship has come up in USA being built there however this is not in the same century. The name has also come up in a few smaller craft about the world as well, but nothing this big.

Can you help with its history or any information? Then please get in touch, thank you.

Chris

Hi

There are several ships by the name "Regina", but I think this is the one you are looking for:
http://www.norsk-sjofartsmuseum.no/malmstein/popupresultat.php?id=8150&lang=1
It's captain 1876-90 was A. J. Brønlund and it was large - here given 847 and 798 tons.
It sailed "Austral grain" - I guess this means grain from Australia?
It was built in Larvik 1876 and was a War loss. It was burnt Oct 23, 1916 by a German submarine in the NorthSea. Two people died.

Now That's an interesting site! Thank you Jan Peter. Folks would find more information when realizing "what was the most dominate event during that time" they are searching for information on the internet and of course war history is one.

http://www.uboat.net It seems to be a search-able database of all ships etc sunk by the German U-boats Great for history and maybe even location of the wrecks! Wow.

Many Thanks to Jan Peter

Can anyone help with perhaps a photo of the Barque Regina and crew lists? The Ship was built in Larvik 1876, would anyone be able to offer any further information on this?

Many Thanks
