Hi

I am looking for information regarding my grandfather. I have had no luck finding him in the birth archives of Risor in Norway. The following is all the info I have:

Name: Kristian Hansen
Born: 22/10/1922
Birthplace : Risor Norway
Occupation-. Merchant seaman
Date of entry into Australia: April 4 1945
Records indicate he left Australia within 3 months
Name of ship: m/V Lidvard
Port of debarkation: Melbourne

Previously regegistered at Darlinghurst NSW Australia on 5/1/43
Had a form of application for Registration granted on May 7 1945 before leaving.
Had information that he may have been also on the Strachan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sincerely
Jayson

The voyage record for Lidvard dos not coincide with the date of entry.
Would the info here be beneficial to you?

Hi

I have the actual application but I cannot attach it here....have to send to you via email or other means if this helps

We know he was in Port Pirie at the end of January

The date of entry is wrong in that respect. But looking at the application it was issued in Melbourne. It says he left Commonwealth 1/5/45 on top of application

The only other info under a personal description is the following:
¨'Previously registered at Darlinghurst NSW on 5/1/43' No ship mentioned- maybe strachan
BL certificate- 51 354
Remarks- Exemption certificate no 45/163 issued on 4 /4/45 for 3 months

Any way of getting passenger lists?

Thanks for your help!

Jayson

Best to my knowledge: Signed off (from duty) = Left/finnished work.

Thank you for your help.......you would not believe it but by posting 'Does anyone know Kristian Hansen from Risor' on Facebook , I have just located my grandfather's family. For the first time in my mother's life she has been able to talk by phone to her ' blood' brothers. Unfortuantely Kristian, her biological father died in 1985. But a big thanks to this site and I wish everyone the best with their searches. If anyone needs to know information regarding the M/S Lidvard I believe I will have more very soon :)
