Otto, I have been searching for 3 years and just found he may have a sister called Othilie/Ottilie TORGERSEN nee HAGEMANN whose parents are Otto HAGEMANN and Marie TORNBOM.
The Latter Day Saints (Mormons) Pilot site provided the above details but no luck with Otto.
His Will (died 27 May 1890) states him a Marine Surveyor from Norway late of London England.
Is there somebody on this list can point me where I can locate Otto's birth details and perhaps his working details?
I have viewed this site hoping for a break through.
Actually Othilie/Ottilie was the illegimate child of Otto Hageman (born about 1832). Notice the year of her birth - not likely to have been a sister with approximately 33 years between them.
The LDS record must have given you a location for the girl's birth - that information is VITAL to your research in Norway.
Hi, Captain von Hagemen was most likley Captein Christian Hageman and Olie Lytzow, perhaps a nicname for Beatha Dorothea Lyttzow, they married In Fredrikstad Oct. 15. 1784, see left page 2. marriage here
Betaha Dorothea was daughter to General Henning Carl Lytzow and Helle lytzow.
Oslo 1801, retired General Lytzow with a pension of 600 RiksDaler and Helle Lytzow, a unmaried daughter Merethe age 44. Berthel Hendrich Hagemann, military student, perhaps a grandchild and Christian Hagemanns brother/cousin?
Correction; Olie was not a nickname, Olea Johanna Lytzow was her name and she was Beatha Dorothea Lytzow´s sister, she married Christian Hageman´s brother (von Hageman) "Premier" First Lieutenant Frideric Christian Otto von Hageman Sept. 17. 1788, see left page 2. wedding here
Information tells, not confirmed, that First Lieutenant Frideric Christian Otto Hageman died Feb. 9. 1795, age 45.
Perhaps that is why Cristian Hageman age 13 in 1801, lived with his uncle Lieutenant Colonel Christian von Hageman and Beatha Hageman (Lytzow, married 1784, see above) and two sons, Carl Friderik and Theodor, on farm Fossum in Blaker subparish in Aurskog municipality, Akershus county, see person nr 83724 here.
Thank thank you all who answered my 'call for help'.
Family stories mentioned "a fishing trawler ship's captain" and I was drawn to Norway early in my search but couldn't 'find him.
His son Otto Hagman ROBERTS was born in Lambeth London in October 1878 to a Sarah RICHARDS with the Birth Certificate father's details crossed through.
His will mentioned Otilia as a beneficary and also Otto Junior but no acknowledgement as a 'son'.
All Otto Senior's parent details are gratefully accepted opening further investigations into his lineage.
This website members have been most beneficial to my search and I thank you all again.
Hi, the Torgersen name is a common in Norway, comes from my ggrandfather Torger Torkildsen.
Henning Carl Lytzow married Helle Lytzow in Oslo Cathedral Dec. 23. 1748, he was a lieutenant, Helle Lytzow was Helle Baltzersdatter Broch, daughter to Vicar in Sandsvær Baltzer Broch and Mette Nilsdatter.
The wedding record, see 3. column here, starts with; December 23 Lieutnant Henning Carl von Lytzow and Helle Broch.
Baltzer Broch was born in Trondheim ab. 1691 was Vicar in Efteløt church in Ytre (Outher) Sandsvær from 1722-25 when he died. The vicarage was located to a small countryside, "Sauerkroken" not fare from the church. When Baltzar Broch settled down 1722 he demanded inspection of the farm, the houses were more than 100 years old and in somewhat poor condition and had to be repaired. The forest consists of pine, spruce and birch .

When Baltzar Broch died the new minister was Peter Henrich Wolf, the houses were still in poor condition.
The widow Mette Nilsdatter lived in Sandsvær for some years before she settled down in Oslo with the children Peder and Helle and where the daughter Helle Broch married 1748. Mette Nilsdatter b.a. 1694 died in Oslo 1757.
No records for Ottos mother, Elisabeth Melberg, except for the 1801 census has been referred to so far. She was born Jan 10 1792 and baptized Jan 16, see last record on right page. Her parents recorded as Petter Melberg and Sara Katrine Mowat. Petter Andreasen Melberg and Sara Katrine Movat were married July 9 1789, see 3rd record from botttom of right page. Petter Andreasen Melbergs father was Andreas Melberg, 77 years old and a widower in 1801. The LONG Crossing of the Hannah Parr - Background Essay - The fascinating story of the Hannah Parr crossing the atlantic in 1868, the ship encountered serious trouble on the way. This is probably one of the best documented crossings of a norwegian emigrant ship of that era, thanks to Clair O. Hagen and James Overdahl
