Hello all.

I would like to find out when Gunnild Bjornsdtr Hem passed, and in what parish or farm did she last reside. I have searched on the Digitalarkivet site, but I'm not having any luck. (haven't mastered that wonderful resource quite yet)

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Heidi

Hi Heidi.
My guess;
Gunild Bjørnsdtr. was from Telemark.

Hem Nordre, Hem Sydre and Hem Lille are in the northern part of Sauherad parish.

Gunnil Bjørnsdøttre (21) on the Hem Søndre farm in census-1801 for Seude, Telemark.

Also; a Gunnil Biørnsdtr (30) is listed further down.

Thank you both.

Is it possible that some deaths don't get recorded in the parish records?
The records I have on Gunnil is that she lived at Hem Søndre until she married Jacob Halvorsen Bredsvoll and they moved to the To farm in Gransherad.
Gransheradsoga states they had two children then moved back to Hem in Seude. That is all I have found.

Does anyone have a copy of the Sauherad Bygdebok band 2? Maybe this tells when she died?

I'm pulling together a book on my ancestors; I would like to have as many dates referenced as possible.
All these clues help, and once again thank you!!!

- Heidi

Hi,
within this weekend I can take a look into volume 2, Sauherad bygdebok.

Is it the same Gunnild Bjørnsdtr. who married Jacob Halvorsen Oct. 20. 1806 in Sauherad?
LDS tells Jacob was from Sandsvær and died 1847 (not in what he died)

Seems like our families often meet as neighbors or family.

A curiosity:
Sauherad Oct. 17.1801, døbt (christened) Captain Zernichovs and Aasil Johanesdatters uægte (illigitimate) B: (Child:) Anne
Godparents: Bjørn Hem ......., see right page bapt #69

Anne (Jacobsdatter) Zernichow was my gggrandmother, she was born on Hem Lille.

Gunnils father Bjørn (Hansen) Hem died 1816.

Thanks Jim!! How did you do it? That is her.

Kåre, I have noticed with all the help you gave me in the Hem research that we do have families that were close. I know that Gunnild and Jacob lived at Søndre Hem, and as you say your family was from Lille Hem.
Go back far enough and I'm sure there is a relation.

There is a relation Heidi.

If you goes back to Tarald Olsen 1576-1671, parents Ole Olsen Skjerven 1547-93 and NN. Nerisdatter on Søndre Hem you can switch over to Nordre Hem and Neri Hem and Aslaug Ormarsdatter.
This familyline goes back before the Black plague 1349.
Nordre Hem and the family on Lindheim (volume 4 p. 97), Nes parish in Sauherad, were friends and allied in a long lasting struggle with the Haukvik famly in Sauherad.
My ancestor from Sandsvær Torstein Rollevsev b.a. 1460 married Torny Torbjørnsdatter (Tonne Lindheim) and settled down on Lindheim

I am sure you will find out about this if it might interest you, I understand that you like to spend the time it needs and find out things for yourself.
If you need some help with translations I can help you.

Good luck.

Kåre
