I am seeking information, and have not had much luck, about my 2nd great-grandfather's first wife, said to have been named Berthe Harstad. Records indicate she was born 29 Mar 1866, and that her parents were Olaf and Anna Harstad. She supposedly left Norway in 1895, bound for North Dakota.
I do know that Berthe had a sister named Oline, who was born 24 Feb 1874, and I located her birth record in the parish of Stange/Tangen in Hedmark County. On later records Oline indicated her maiden name was Haroldstad. She was married to Even Trosvik and had three children before leaving Norway for the U.S.A in 1906.
I am interested in finding a birth record of Berthe, as well as any information I can find about her parents, siblings, etc... and the information about her migration to the United States. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

You write that you have located birth record Oline, b. 24 feb 1874 in the parish of Stange/Tangen in Hedmark County. The Oline I found in that birth record ( http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8859&idx_id=8859&uid=ny&idx_side=-69 ) (line nr. 8) , born on that date and bapth. 6 april 1874 has not parents with mane Olaf and Anna. Normaly their maiden name should be Olafsdatter after theirs fathers name. It would be helpful if you can make a link to where you have found Berthe so we can see what is written, because that is importent.

The only reference I have to the name "Harstad" is from Berthe's 1906 death certificate from North Dakota in the USA. It was also on this certificate that her parents names are given as Olaf and Anna Harstad. This may or may not be correct as it was filled out by her husband, who most likely knew very little of Berthe's family in Norway.
On the 9 Jan 1900 birth record of her son Torstein, Oline is recorded as "Oline Olsdtr."

Again, thank you both very much for your help. My family has been very excited over these recent discoveries about our ancestry. For so long we knew so very little. Now I need to find out how to track some long lost family members from Sweden and Denmark.
