On his naturalization papers he said that he immigrated from Christiana to New York on May 14th, 1888 on a vessel called American Netherlands. He says that he used the name Olaf Hagen.

I searched the Ancestry.com data base for ships arriving in New York, no ship named American Netherlands is listed for any year.

I searched the Ancestry.com data base for any Hagen arriving in 1888. Of the 96 arrivals last name Hagen none of them is named Oluf, Olav, Ole or any derivative close to that name.

immigration information off of his naturalization application but I have tried similar searches with no luck. It looks like too many inconsistencies in the reporting. If I get any more tangible leads to get help with I'll come back. Thank you Lyndal for your search.
