I know I've mentioned it before, but the book "Rennesøy - Gard og ætt - Band 3" contains a LOT of history about Utstein Kloster, pages and pages. If you manage to get those pages and have a really really good Norwegian-English dictionary you can reacquaint yourself thoroughly with the history of the "farm".
For a very brief check of that information before I typed the above I just used my favorite Internet browser and searched on "Utstein Kloster." |

It would be lovely to have the books, from the areas that the relatives lived in. The expense for shipping from Norway, is pretty great though. I read up on Utstein KLoster a few years ago but am not remembering it all. Will review it on another day. I have a smaller farm book from Utstein, that my friend from Norway, translated a lot of pages for me. She does not live here though. The part you sent on translating from norwegian is a good one. So I will be using that, as my dictionaries are not much help. Was looking up on Sivert Clausen and came across a Norway Genealogy Forum and saw your name mentioned, I believe. I didn't realize he'd been married until very lately, so was very glad to find that bit of information on Sivert marrying Inger Lerma Kyllingstad etc. probably in Chicago but not sure yet. |
