Hi Jack,

While you're waiting for actual descendants of Jacob to respond, you may want to post a list of the names of the known descendants here and by joining the Soderlund forum at www.genforum.com

But if you actively want to hunt down the descendants, start plugging the names into some of the search engines below:

www.newslibrary.com (they have the current Duluth, Minnesota newspaper, which you can narrow the search to or you can cover a lot of USA with the main search)

www.mnhs.org (they have birth and death indexes for Minnesota; birth abt 1908-1935, death 1908-2001)

www.mncounty.com (they have marriage records for a lot of Minnesota counties)

Also there are records at the St.Louis County, Minnesota at www.usgenweb.com page which may contain information on your folks.

Also at www.anywho.com you can search for current phone & addresses for the the names you already have (and have picked up at the newspaper site.) There is an access at anywho to a for-pay full records search but which allows an abbreviated search for free but usually includes lists of names of other relatives. Intelius.)

Good Luck,

Jackie M.

Hi Jack,
I sent a mail to a person I found on the Net last night, who had names like Pekkala and Soderlund in her bio. It was a wild shot, but it turns out she is a daughter of your first cousin Gladys and her husband Les! She lives in Fort Mohave, AZ.

Jack,
Jan Peter also referred me to the main page. I'm glad to know that Magnus was Swedish. That answers the question of why Soderlund didn't sound like a typical Norwegian name.

Also, it confirms the story that Mom's g.grandfather was a ship's captain.
