I am looking for information on Andrew Hanson born 10 Jun 1843 outside of Olso, Norway to Hans Olsen or Tangen and Berta Olsen or Tangen . I have two family records one indicates his father's last name was Olsen the other was Tangen. He left Norway around 1870. Andrew possibly had a brother named Bernt. I am also looking for more information on his wife Mari Lien Olson born 3 Sep 1853 in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway. Her parents were Esten Olson and Marit Christens (Christendatter). She left Norway around 1873. Thank you in advance for any help you may be.

Andrew was probably actually Anders or Andreas in Norway -- Andrew was a typical Americanization of those names. According to Norwegian naming patterns Andrew would be identified as Anders/Andreas Hansen in Norway too -- that is patronymic naming. So - if we search the 1865 Norwegian census database for males with given names starting with 'And', last names starting with 'Han' AND living on a farm which is spelled starting with the letters 'Tang' we find at least 9 matching those conditions.

One close match to your description is this one -

Mari's birth record from Sør-Fron. b. 27 August 1853.Page 61, 2nd Sheet
This church record is a "copy". So 27 August 1853 could be an error. The official record gives 3 Sep. 1853.
