Ole Haagensen Hojem (24.11.1856 i Frosta, Nord-Trøndelag) disappears from the small town Hønefoss sometime before 1910. There is no records of his death in Norway, and the family said "he went to America". I found 1 match on the Ellis Island in 1905 (Ole Haagensen (50)), but I am not at all sure that is the right person. He left his wife and to daughters behind i Hønefoss. He also had a technical education from Kristiania (Oslo). In 1910 his wife, Betzy Augusta Hojem, is a "widow", but it is strange that he is not buried in Hønefoss. I'd be glad if anyone could help me!

Hi,

Not sure if this helps or not but here is an Ole H. dying in Beltrami:

HANGENSON, OLE
Date of Birth: na
Place of Birth: na
Mother Maiden Name: na
certid# 1911-MN-000571
Date of Death: 08 Nov 1911
County of Death: BELTRAMI

Also this fellow can't be the Ole in the 1920 census and there is a bit of a difference between the Ole who left Norway about 1905 and the 1920 Ole: immigration year for the 1920 Ole is 1881 and an unexpected naturalization date of 1903, makes him less likely to be someone who left Norway in 1905, unless there is way more to this story.

Where is the Norway family in 1900, was Ole with them then?

Good Luck,

Jackie M.

This Ole seems like a good match, living in Eckles, for the 1905 Minnesota census.
Name: Ole Hagenson
Census Date: 29 Jun 1905
County: Beltrami
Locality: Eckles
Birth Location: Norway
Gender: Male
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857
Race: White
Father's Birth Location: Norway
Mother's Birth Location: Norway

Yesterday, on Digitalkivet, I found an Ole Hagenson leaving Oslo on 7 Sept. 1910, destination Bemidji, which is only a short distance from Eckles. Birthdate was 1857, he was an American, and unmarried.

My keyborard messed up and I lost everrything I was going to send. I still can't seem to get the emigration record back.

Les

Sorry, the emigration record was under Trondheim.

Minnesota death index has some possibilities.
http://people.mnhs.org/dci
1925-MN-004175, OLE, , HAGENSON, , , 23 Dec 1925, , FILLMORE, ,
1922-MN-006154, OLE, , HAGENSON, , , 31 May 1922, , KITTSON, ,
1936-MN-029459, OLE, , HAGENSON, , , 14 Aug 1936, , ST. LOUIS, ,
1950-MN-012118, OLE, , HAGENSON, , , 16 Dec 1950, , OTTER TAIL, ,

In Liberty township, Beltrami County, Minnesota is a small cemetery named Aure Immanuel Cemetery. There is a baby Hagenson and couple of Haagenson. Most likely related.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSsr=4...;

This increased the MN Death index by one.
1942-MN-022535, OLE, , HAAGENSON, , , 28 Nov 1942, , HENNEPIN, ,

MN Marriage index has this.
HENNEPIN 00270067 married 12/9/1884 HAAGENSEN, OLUF to PAULSON, M LENA
That should elimate the Ole that died on Nov 28 1942.

Found another interesting listing on the marriage index.
MURRAY A-70 married on 7/2/1879 HAAGENSON, OLE to JOHNSON, ANNA

You could try the courthouse in Bemidji and see if they will look through their death index for Ole. Without a death date, only way to find an obit is if the microfilm had the obits indexed by someone at the local historical society.
