Hello, I am searching for any information about the island Guldbrandsø in Norway (Lofoten) and any information about Andrass Hanusson (my tiptiptipgrandfaher (1792-1839) He was living and worked at the islands Guldbrandsø (APROX. 1817-1827). His ship went down, he was rescued and all his descendens have the middelname Guldbrandsø, after the place he was rescued. I further know he was in June 1827, in the team with British Navy Officer William Parry and two teams of fourteen men to the Northpole. Their expedition lasted two months and they made it to latitude 82°75' North. ... All informations are welcome Best regards |

You can see the island in this map.
I assume his name was Anders Hansen, he would have been 9 years in 1801, but I think 7 years have to pass.

No, Andrass Hanusson was born in Skúvoy in The Faroe Islands in 1792, came to Norway in 1817, but he worked on Guldbrandsø for 5 years, is there an Archive I can look for him in Lofoten ?

Possible places to look would have been parish records, but unfortunately they were lost in a fire in 1866. |
