Hi all

So I found my grandads twin brother b. Gustav Eugen Petersen Berg, 5. January 1898, in Halden Østfold, Norway. Died Eugene G Berg, 23. Dec 1957, California, according to California death index.
I am about 98% sure this is the guy, since I have found several ship manifests saying that this person has been sailing at least since 1917 til 1950 something. And the death index tells me that he was born 5. January 1898.

But when this is said I havent been able to find anything about hus whereabouts other than all the ships he has been on, before the war.
I have an idea that after he had been sailing for USA during the war he was given recidens in the US. He had a social security number (112200427) when he died.

Some of the manifests before the war says something about that he was not allowed in the US for more than 19 days, thats why I think he didn't live in the US. So then it,s more or less the rest of the world of possibilities for recidens.

So far I have found him on these ships:
7. Nov 1917, arrival in New York, Bergensfjord from Kristiania
22. Jun 1918, arrival in New York. Kapana, from Jucaro Cuba
14 Oct 1939, arrival in New York, Franz Klasen, Aruba and Montreal
10 Dec 1942, Arrival in New York, Esso Bolivar, Curacao, Dutch West Indies
This ship was torpedoed by a German submarin earlier the same year, just outside Guantanamo Bay.
26 Apr 1946, arrival in New York, Knox Victory, Copenhagen, Denmark, here he shows up with US recidense
3 Aug 1948, arrival in New York, Baylor Victory, Balboa, Canal Zone, Panama
9 Oct 1950, arrival San Francisco, California, Alameda, Sydney Australia
23 Jun 1951, Portland, Oregon, Philippine Bear, Long Brack
13 Sep 1954, San Francisco, California, President Jefferson, Yokohama
And so on, he has been all around the world, but I can't seem to find where he has been living, any ideas would be highly appreciated.
At one time he was mentioned as Scottish, but when i got in to the manifest he was Scandinavian anyway.

I take it that your grand-dad was Rolf Markus Petersen, Berg since he is the twin brother og Gustav Eugen Petersen, Berg, baptismal record is #68 and 69.

GGgrandparents Peter Fredriksen, Berg and Helga Hermansdatter, Nøkleby were married Febr 26 1896, see
