Hey guys-

Me and a few others are trying to figure out who Knut Syverson parents are. Our records show that he was born in Nord-Aurdal in 1756. Accord to this tree...

Tree

The parents are listed as Åbjør Syver Olson and Åbjør Berit Knutsdtr (chr Dec 25, 1756). While looking at the parish records for Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, we found another parish record that shows a Knud with Syver Knudsen and Ingebor Knudsdatter as the parents, chr December 29, 1756.

Can you help me clear up the mystery on which record is the correct one?

Also, The their was a couple that married October 4, 1787, names: Knud Syversen and Sigri Knudsdatter. They married in Vestre Slidre, Oppland, Norway. No parents are listed. We are wondering if this is our same Knud Syversen.
Please help me on this one.

Lucas

Did your Knud Syversen have any children?
Knud syversen and Sigri Knudsdatter who married in 1787 had 3 sons, Knudt, Syver and Johan, and a daughter Ragnild.

You introduce unexplained "facts" and ask us to accept them as true.
"born in Nord-Aurdal in 1856" -- according to what evidence? the marriage record (that you forgot to give the link to) gives no information about parentage, age or place of birth. There was also a Knud Syversen born in Vestre Slidre who would have been of marriage age in 1767... you eliminated that possibility through what personal efforts?

The 1856 birth records for Aurdal show TWO Knud Syversens born but of course can give no indication of the future. You could actually research both of those chilren born or you could flip a coin.
You and your "few others" could plan your research strategy and share the work among you.

Did you contact the originator of the "tree" you linked and find what evidence they might have?

The fact I have are from this tree. I have no other evidence yet. The tree that I posted is my only source and me along with another distant family member are checking the fact through parish records and census records. The facts that i can give you is if you remember my original posting of Erek Erekson, Ericks parentes were Erik Levordson and Ragnild Knutsdatter. Ragnilds father is the Syver Knutson that I am discussing with you guys.

The marriage record for Knud Syversen and Sigri Knudsdatter is the 3rd from bottom of right page.

The family (including Ragnild, born 1797) at the Berg farm in 1801.

Siver Olsen Aaberg and Birthe Knudsdatter was Knuds parents, see bapt record of Dec 25 1756 on top of left page.

The baptismal record for Sigrid Knudsdatter on March 17 1754 is the 4th record on right page, her parents were Knud Johannesen and Ragnhild Endersdatter.

Thanks eibache. Could you translate the marriage record for Knud Syversen and Sigri Knudsdatter for me please? Also, is this a marriage record or engagment record? My other question is if this is an engagement record, does the date of August 21, 1787 the date of engagement or date of the marriage?

The record reads: "Wed Røen Ungkarl Knud Syvers., Hegge og Pigen Sigri Knudsdr. Caution Endre Erichs., Røen og Nils Johans., Færden."

- the date August 12 1787 is the engagement, they were married Oct 4 1787 (see right column "Copuleret").

No, but you can look them up on the 1801 census, Endre Erichsen, and Niels Johanessen.
