Thank you for letting me see your tree, Scott. It is wonderful!! I hope we can figure out the connections between our trees or families. I plan to look much more at your site and incorporate as much data as I can into mine. I'm impressed that you go back so far--I never got beyond my great grandfather Knudt Hansen Kloppen and found no one on Ancestry.com who was connected to us. I'm going to input the data I've been given later this week. Again, thank you.

I live in Southern California. Are you in Norway or the midwestern US or somewhere less predictable?

Now, I'm off to give out candy.

P.S. I've requested an invitation to access your family tree. If you want to know more about me, my profile is on LinkedIn.

Challenging topic Lauren.
Not easy to find a Kloppen connection.

Perhaps from a Syver, Knud or Hans since that names often appears in the Kloppen family?
A short summary:
- Knud Syversen Holen born to Syver Jacobsen Hagavolden and Margrete Hendrik-Henriksdatter Maarskar, married July 18. 1824
- Knuds wife Ingebjørg Hansdatter Leren born to Hans Hansen and Anne Erlandsdatter married April 15. 1830.

Here is what I found == these are Knud Syversen Holen's brothers and sisters (all christened in Dovre Church, Lesja Parish):

Knud Syversen birth: 3 Dec 1842, Christening: 18 Dec. 1842
Aagot Syversdatter birth: 22 May 1840 christening: 21 Jun 1840
Hendrik Syversen birth: 01 Nov 1836 christening: 25 Dec 1836
Marit Syversdatter birth: 18 Dec 1823 christening: 01 Jan 1824
Jacob Syversen birth: 31 Oct 1826 christening: 12 Nov 1826

The father of the above children was Syver Jacobsen Hagavolden (listed above in Kare's post):
I would assume the 1805 Syver died so your relation is the one born in 1807:
Syver Jacobsen: birth: 01 Jun 1807 christening: 14 Jun 1807
His Brother: Syver Jacobsen birth: 25 Jan 1805 christening: 17 Feb 1805
(another brother is listed in the 1801 Census)

Syver Jacobsen parents were:
Father: Jacob Siversen Ækre, 29 in 1801, birth: 03 Mar 1772, christening: 07 Mar 1772
(son of Siver Toresen Nørstegaard and Joran Olsdatter )

Cite for Jacob Siversen's baptism:

Syver Jacobsen's Mother = Anne Bjørnersdatter AEkre (according to the 1801 Census she was 19 in 1801)

AEkre Farm in Dovre 1801 Census:

Jacob Sivertsen AEkre and Anne Bjornersdatter AEkre wed on 7 July 1800 in Lesja

Marriage Cite:

Edit: I tested my links to the Lesja Churchbooks and they're not working so I'll figure out another way to get you there and repost

I found some more:

Hans Knudsen Klopper, son of
Knud Syversen Holen, son of
Syver Jacobsen Hagavolden, son of
Jacob Siversen Ækre (birth: 03 Mar 1772, christening: 07 Mar 1772 at Dovre/Lesja, married Anne Bjornersdatter AEkre on 7 July 1800 in Dovre/Lesja), SON OF:

Siver Toresen Nørstegaard (age 64 in 1801 Census) and
Jørrand Olsdatter (age 66 in 1801 Census).

Here are Siver and Jørrand on the Nørstegaard Farm in the 1801 Census (living with a son Tore Sivertsen's family):

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=6&filnamn=f18010512&gardpostnr=90&merk=90#ovre

Siver Toresen Nørstegaard was born 15 Feb 1738 at Nørstegaard farm in Dovre and christened 16 Feb 1738 (probably a home baptism). He was the son of Thore Nørstegaard ( baptism record -- Lesja Parish Register 1732-1776 at page 219)

Siver Toresen Nørstegaard died at age 75 on June 3, 1811 in Lesja (although this may be the date he was buried) (original record at Lesja Parish Register 1777-1819 at page 753)

Burials in Lesja:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=10&filnamn=lesjabg&gardpostnr=4231&personpostnr=4231#nedre

Jørraand Olsdatter Nørstegaard died (or was buried) on January 20, 1811 in Lesja. She was 67 years old (which doesn't match the 1801 Census age) (original burial record: Lesja Parish Register 1777-1819 at page 748)

Burial Record:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=10&filnamn=lesjabg&gardpostnr=4220&personpostnr=4220#nedre

Scott.
First, you are a great finder.
Your familytree is interesting.

Posting a church record to share with others;
On top of the page, blue line, click on "Image information" and post the "Permanent page link"

I have some interesting info reg. Jøda Knudsdatter Kloppen to share.
Jøda was a very unusual name, only 53 with that name in Norwasy in 1801, most of them from Lesja/Dovre.

Good luck.

I have located a website that provides statistical information about a wide variety of topics in Norway including the number of people with specific names--common and uncommon. It is at www.ssb.no/navn_en/. I discovered that there are now 16 people named Kloppen in Norway and 485 males with Syver for a first name. Probably many of you already know about this site, but it was a find for me. My conjecture is that I am connected to all of the people who have borne the name "Kloppen" in Norway. My mother told me that her father, Severt Knudsen Kloppen, told her that everyone who lived in the area his family came from was named Kloppen. Given the small number with that name, it most likely was a farm or village.

Hi.
There are Kloppen farms in several counties in Norway.
Your family came from Lesja in Oppland County.
Dovre where the Kloppen family I have worked on was a subparish in Lesja until 1861 when it bacame an independant parish.
