Hello, I am looking for any information on Teresa Braa born abt 1866 in Norway. She is the 2nd wife of Nils Olson Viken Boyum (I received great information about Nils and his 1st wife Ragnilda Barsnes from members on this site!)
I am looking for any information on Teresa's parents, family in Norway and her immigration to the USA. Any information would greatly appreciated.

We have limited information on Teresa. She was born in Norway in abt 1866. Teresa died on 5 May 1898 on the Boyum homestead near Garretson SD. She is buried next to Nils in the St Pauli cemetery near Garretson SD. There are other Braa's living in Logan and Highland townships, Minnehaha County, South Dakota in 1900 that may be related to her but I can not connect them to her. (Anders Braa born abt 1844 in Norway immigrated about 1877, Torres Braa born 1860, Guri Torsdatter Hoyem born about 1825, Stephan Braa born abt 1813 in Norway married abt 1842 immigrated about 1887) I would like to find out if Teresa is related to these Braa's.

Any help on Teresa and her family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Paul Jankowski

Could this be a candidate, Terese Braa?

Her full name was Terese Nikoline Mathilde Torgersdatter, Braa, see #5.

The confirmation record shows that she was born in Stugan, Jãmtland, Sweden May 10 1866. Her parents were Torger Pedersen, Braa and Nikoline Jakobsdatter, Lund, see #42.

Tereses family came to Braamyren in Byneset 1879, see #7-12. Info is here given for the birth of their 4 children. The mothers name should actually have been Maria Jakobsdatter born in 1834.

The parents were married Aug 6 1867 in Svartvig, Vestre Norlands Lãn in Sweden.

Torger Pedersen and Nekoline Marie and two of their children were in Tynset at the census in 1875.

The other 'Braa' persons must have been Tørris born on Braa farm in Byneset on 3 Aug 1860 to Steffen Haftorsen and Guro Toresdatter. There does not have to be any family relationship -- they could just have been persons from the farm or farms of the same name.

http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr=1655&kenr=001&bnr=0044&lnr=000

The 1865 Norwegian census does seem to associate the Braa farm name and smaller sub-farms called 'Mule' to each other.
