Help required, please.
OSCAR OLLAINSEN born about 1858. His father was PETER (that's how it was written on OSCAR'S UK marriage certificate - though probably PEDER?) OLLAISEN/OLLAINSEN was a ship's carpenter (dead by 1880). In the 1881 UK census OSCAR'S place of birth in Norway is partially obliterated by the ennumerator. Could it be DRAMMEN or DRAMAND or even GRIMSTAD? I am trying to find a birth date for OSCAR to try to trace his descendants but there don't seem to be early birth, marriage and death records for the above places or those with similar spelling. Any help would be much appreciated.

Drammen 1865.
Oscar (Olausen) Pettersen born to Mastershipcarpenter Olaus Pettersen and Elisabeth Pettersen, a son Ludvig 19 was also a shipcarpenter.
But this Oscar is 14 years, b. ca 1851.link

A little record history from the catalog at www.familysearch.org:
"Contains priest and sexton records from Grimstad parish. Was separated from Fjære clerical district in 1885. Earlier records are in Fjære clerical district." |

The Oscar Kåre found was actually born Sept 5 1852 and baptized Oscar Emil, see #137, parents shipcarpenter Olaus Petersen and Elisabeth Marie Nielsen.

The baptismal record for Oscars older sister Emilie Petrine says the mother was Eilertsdatter, it is reasonable to think that she therefore was the daughter of Eilert Nielsen.
She was born May 3 1816, see #42.

Hello. I know this is an old post, but I'm trying anyway.
I'm from norway, and I'm looking for my husbands 3rd great-grandfather, named OSCAR OLAUSEN and was born 1858. And this is all we know about him!
My husbands greate-greate grandmother, HANSINE OLAUSEN, was born in 1876 in Larvik, Vestfold, in Norway. Outside of marriage when Oscar was only 18 years old. Larvik is just an hour away from Drammen.
Well, we can't find OSCAR any place after the batism of his daughter. And that ofcourse leads us to thinking he left the country aka. went to America.
I don't know if you Nielset will ever see this post, but if you do please send me an email to; liseviolaks@gmail.com And we can try to see if we got the same person we are looking for. If this is right, then I know alot about your living norwegian relatives :)

I wonder if this is Oscar in the 1875 Census, living in the same place as a Chistiane Hansdatter.

In this census record Oscar is listed as a farm hand.
And Oscar with his family in the 1865 Census.

In the confirmation record of Halvordine her father Oscar is again listed as a seaman (sømand).

Hei Kåre. Alt går veldig mye bedre på norsk enn på engelsk. Hehe. Jeg er ny her, så slike ting som å sende meldinger har jeg ikke lært meg enda. Jeg ble fornøyd bare jeg klaret å registerer meg her jeg :P hehe

I am still wondering WHERE DID OSCAR GO when he left norway??
Did he have a good life?
His eks girlfriend and his daughters lives a poor life :/
Even tho his daughter Hansine got married to a man from a noble danish family ;) |
