Diff. to find Myrtle Jørgensdatter Kalhovde, this is what I found.

A Public Member Trees in Ancestry.com.uk on Kvamsdal family tree which I do not have acess to (not a member),tells that Myrtle Kalhovd died in Minnesota.

I misunderstood, sorry, it was a half sister of Myrtle you asked for.

Searching for Myrtle I found Ragna Johansdatter Kvamsdal b. Jan. 7. 1905. She married Halfdan Henriksen Kvamsdal link

I have searched the records from Masfjorden from ca 1906-1922 but can´t find any daughter born to Jørgen Jetmundsen Kalhovda.
A possibilty is that she was born in another parish or rumors, but family rumors, although they are old, often have a sort of truth.

I started with genealogy based on ca 200 years old family loose threads/rumors given to me by my grandmother.
As the records were available in the archives and later online it turned out that things were just as she had told

What about a half-sister through Anna Sørensd, Myrtle's mother?

Anna was born about 1888-1891. She had a brother named Ole Sorenson who was born about 1884 who also came to America at least by 1940.

Here is her death from www.mnhs.org:
KALHOVD, ANNIE
Date of Birth: 28 Mar 1886
Place of Birth: OUT OF STATE
Mother Maiden Name: ERICKSON
certid# 1971-MN-006773
Date of Death: 07 Mar 1971
County of Death: POPE

Here they are in 1910, says she was born in Hyllestad, no extra child:

Anna's parents have a "datter-datter" living with them in 1910:

Petrine Marie Pedersdatter #12:
Source information: Sogn og Fjordane county, Hyllestad in Hyllestad, Parish register (official) nr. B 2 (1903-1917), Birth and baptism records 1907, page 15.

So it was Anna Sørensdatters daughter from Lekva in Hyllestad.
I thought of her too.
Mystery is solved.
Family rumors are mostly with small changes quite reliable.

The far right note tells that Anna's father reported the child's birth and a further note that this is both Anna's and Peder's first indiscretion.

The record itself tells that Peder was born about 1884.

From Hyllestad Bygdebook.
Petrine is not mentioned, Anna Sørensdatter is mentioned as b. 1888 and on Lekva in 1900.

Søren Olsen Lekva bought Lekva 1886 from his sister and widow Østine Olsdatter. Sørens wife Marthe Eriksdatter was sister to Østines deceased husband Jens Eriksen Lekva.

Søren Olsen Lekva born 1853 on farm Rinde died 1931.
His wife Marthe Eriksdatter b. 1853 on Lekva died 1934.

Anna Sørensdatter Lekva had 5 siblings;
- Monsine Karine 1881 married to Gran in Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag county
- Ole 1883 em. to America 1912
- Your Anna 1886
- Ingeborg Andrine 1888 married Peder Sagen, Kvamsøy
- Kari 1890, em. to Scotland
- Edvard Johannes 1893, went through the ice and drowned 1905.

In 1932 Marthe Eriksdatter sold Lekva out of the family to Peder Henrik Hjelmeland from Bergen.
