I am looking for the name of the ship and information about my grandparents' immigration to America. They were from Christiansund, Norway, and came to Chicago, IL, in either 1888 or 1889. Possibly their arrival date was May 26, 1889. My grandfather was Albert R. Olsen, b. 12/18/1866 or 1867. My grandmother was Bertina Larsen Olsen, b. 2/18/1870.

I don't know, but this one at the digitalarkivet looks close:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/EMIKRUT&variabel=0&postnr=6101&fulle=true&spraak=F

It shows Albert and Bertine Olsen departing from Christiansund on May 10, 1889. Seams to be traveling with 4 kids. They had ticets to cross the Atlantic on a White Star Line ship.

This one does seem to fit; however, my father's oldest sister was not born until they were in Chicago. She was born in Sept. 3, 1899.

I should have looked at the digitalarvkivet before posting my reply. These are my grandfather and grandmother and my fathers oldest four brothers and sisters. My grandparents came to America prior to Inga's birth but made a return trip to Norway. My uncle who is listed as Harry here is actually Harvey, and he was born in Norway when they returned to Norway for a visit. This is their return to Chicago. I did not have this information as to the exact time of their trip. I only knew my uncle was born there. Thank you for your help. This explains to me why the date on the immigration and naturalization papers indicates 1899 for time of entry into America. I still would like to find out about their first time coming to America which has to have been after their marriage on Aug 7, 1888 and my aunt's birth in Sept 1889. quote]

This could be Albert:

Unmarried laborer fro Christiansund, only the year of birth is 1 year off compared to the other record.

I am looking for a survivor and or passanger list of the S/S Norge. My gggrandfather was one of the survivors of the 1904 sinking. His name was Knut Carlson or Karlsson. He was 17 at the time of the sinking. I have a letter my gggrandmother translated regarding his experience of the shipwreck I would be glad to share. (she came from Sweden in 1905). Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Kyle
