I am searching for information on the parents and siblings of Henry Charles Vigen who arrived in New York from Stavenger Norway on April 20, 1893 on the Ship Neptune. He was born 15 December 1872 to Halvor Vigen and Regina. That's all I know. Thank you!

Probably a long shot but here is a family on the Vigen farm on Finnoy near Stavanger. Father is Halvor and they have a son named Hendrik born in 1872.

Since you do not have the letter Ĝ, here is the island Finnĝy Henry Charles Vigen was born on.

Vigen means Bay.

I am very new to researching my Norwegian heritage so please bear with me if I sound uneducated in this area =), but I have a couple of questions about how to connect this part of my family. The US Petition for Naturalization that I have for Henry Charles Vigen states that he left Stavangar Norway on February 20 1893 on the ship Neptune and arrived in New York, New York on April 20, 1893. I have been unable to verify this so far since he doesn't show up on passenger lists for the Neptune. When he married in America, he married Clara Braaten (daughter of Erick Christiansen Kvaernbraaten). His death certificate indicates his father's name as Halvor Vigen and his mother as Regina Asken. How do I connect Regina Asken with Randi Thronsdatter? Henry also had a brother named Thomas Vigen born in Norway in 1875. What do you think?

It is reasonable to believe that the brother Thomas is Thomas Johan #15. Parents Halvor Halvorsen and Randi Thronsdatter.

The mother is named Dina in the 1865 census.

Mothers name Regina - Randi - Dina - most likely the same woman.

This is probably his brother born Jan 5, 1875. Note that the parents are the same as those for his brother. See Number 15 for Thomas Johan.

The confirmation record for Randi Tronsdatter is #4 on right page.
The family was then living on Westbĝe. The parents are recorded as Trond Johannesen and Sigrid Johannesdatter, Asken.
Regina Asken = Randi (Dina) Thronsdatter - "quod erat demonstrandum".

I wonder if he used the Trondheim-Kristiansund-Ċlesund-Bergen-Stavanger journey and left Stavanger February 22. 1893 on ship Juno, Wilson line for Hull England link where he changed ship and arrived N.Y. with SS Neptune on April 20.
