Records indicate that The Clarissa sailed from Gothenberg to New York City in 1842, with a date of August 15. Was August 15 the date it left Norway or the date it docked in New York City? My ancestors (Niels Olsen Smetbak, Turi Olsdatter Lien) from the Numedal area of Norway were on that ship. Would they have had to go to Gothenberg to board, or could The Clarissa have made a special stop in Drammen to pick up passengers?
