1805 Peder Johansen Linnert was "Oberstiger" in (Queen) Juliane Marie silver-mine in Vinoren mining field ca 5 Miles north of Kongsberg.

The salary for a Oberstiger was ca 11 RiksDaler a mth (ca 2000 Dollar) and ca 5 Daler a mth. in pension.

If you were sick or injured, for all employees, the salary was 50%, if you were seriously injured your pension was elevated.
Kongsberg Silver Mines was first in Norway to introduce free on Saturday.
In spite of that there were several serious riots in the 1700s, espesially because the miners were exploited by the merchants mostly because of bad, moldy grain and to high prices.

Thank you to all who have responded to my inquiry about Anton Sundt, son of Petter Sundt from Kviteseid. There was some additional information that you researched that will make my life story more meaningful. I have the picture of Petter Sundt's hotel/inn that my ggrandmother was in charge of! Yeah! She had a life when he was out being captain of the ship or entering harness races with his horse. We have been to Kviteseid and thought it was a charming village. Your research has brightened my day and story, thank you!

Thank you for sharing, I looked up photos about Kongsberg and it is beautiful. After looking at all the info that has been shared, I find myself being inquisitive about how did Amund meet Marte Catrine when they lived in towns that are hard to get to.

Whatever you have time to share will add to my story about their lives since there aren't any letters, etc.

You are welcome.
By a mistake I manged to delete a topic from Dis-Norge, Norway largest genealogy assosaition where this family was discussed, but some of it I remember.

Its supposed that Amund was born in Ĝstfold ca 1797-99

Born Amund Anonsen not Amundsen.
Parents; Laborer Anon Olsen and Kari Amunsdatter with Amund b. ca 1798 living in Porsnes gaden (street) 1801
Fredrikshald, todays Halden

Amund must have moved from Halden to Moss because 1834 "Skomagersvend" Shoemaker Amund Anonsen age 26 from Moss arrived Kongsberg.
See lefte page 1824 #6

Thank you, Thank you. I am sooooo excited that you were able to find Ammund Annonsen 's, 1798 - parent's names as I was given a different name years ago and I never felt it was right. So now I can add Annon Olsen and his mom, Kari Amundsdatter Sund to my tree with a positive action.
Our good friends and fellow travelers here in our hometown last name is Sund and I keep telling him that if I work at my genealogy long enough we might be related!!!

Still working on my grandfather's family ........ Anton August Sundt, 1873, son of Petter Amundsson Sundt (1844) and Anne Martine Andersdotter, 1845. Kviteseid.
1. Severin Martin Cornelius Pettersson Sundt, Dec. 15, 1879 - he seems to just disappear in the USA after his divorce from Gertie. I will kieep working on various records. Thanks.

2. Karl Andreas Sundt, born April 12, 1877, Kolbu, Kviteseid, NO came to America and it was reported to me previously that he died on March 4, 1907, apparent drowning when he fell off an unloading plank from a ship. ????? Then it was stated that his remains were returned to Kviteseid for burial. ????

3. FYI: Anton's last child Arnold Peter Sundt died last week in Madison, WI .... I visited with him on the 19th and he died on the 26th at the age of 92, hardly sick a day in his life, but had an infected gall bladder.... they couldn't operate. So it has been a sad week for me as we were very close. He was a very active man.
