You are right Einar, I did not notice that. Its a detailed probate register, everything of value is listed, even buttons which means more taxes to the king in Copenhagen, see last line "Saleris" Fee 27 Daler 3 Ort 4 Shilling= ca 108 Kroner in 1764, ca 28 000 Kroner 2012 )
Last section in the probate to the right mentions "Formyndere" Guardians for the children under age: - For son Johannes Ingebrigtsen; Lars Jacobsen Gerene - For Son Jacob Ingebrigtsen; Ole Ingebrigtsen Qvam - For daughter Synnøve Ingebrigtsdatter; Ole Aamundsen Dahlager.
I remember a probate from my forefather in Hjartdal, Telemark, from the 1600s where even the names of the cows were mentioned.

That is amazing that you are able to go back that far and find a will. How wonderful it is to put that kind of information in a family tree. Thanks so much for all your help. |

A probate from the 1700s is a treasure
It needs an exper to get a 100% translation even to Norwegian.
On top of page 645b there are three sections that deals with the three children and their fathers legasy:
1) "Eldste Søn" (Oldest Son) Johan Ingebrigtsen...... 2) "Andre Søn" Second Son Jacob Ingebrigtsen........ 3) "Datterern" Daughter Synnøve Ingebrigtsdatter.......
They all recived "Jordegods ur" Land/partowners of "gaarden" farm Elveheim, Johan and Jacob recieved 2/5 each of the farm or 17 Daler 3 Ort and 4 Shilling each in value and Synnøve 1/5 of the farm; 13 Daler 4 Ort 12 Shilling in value.
The value of the farm was here converted to "Smør" Butter (weight of butter), which again could be converted to grain, hides, etc. People did not have money to buy in those days.
Among Synnøves inheritance were 10 "knapper" 10 buttons, value 4 Daler 1 Ort 8 Shilling ca 4500 Kroner 2012. (Must have been extra great silver buttons)
