Hi, How can I get the unclaimed letter for Oliver Everson? My grandfather's name was Ivar Victor Everson and he was born in Washington State USA. His mother Amanda my great grandmother was born in Sweden, so maybe that is why his name was spelled that way? |

I believe Robeck is a farmname, perhaps Røbeck/Røbæk.
Beck, Norwegian for Bekk, a small creek, Røbek - Redcreek. There are Røbek farms in Bolsøy a former parish in a area called Romsdal, merged with Molde municipality, Møre and Romsdal county.

I'm sure the original letter went to the trash if Oliver didn't claim it by 2 April 1889.
If you want to see the reference you may search at the free site California Digital Newspapers:

Worth a try; Peter-Peder.
Baptized Oliver Petersen, father Peter Iversen, mother unknown with a connection to a Robeck (Røbek) farm.

Have you checked other people named Robeck in the US census?
There is one Ole Robeck born in Norway, in Seattle, King, Washington, United States. His mother is Oline M Robeck.
Census-1920 shows Oline in the household to daughter Gertrud A Restad. Census-1930 shows Oline in the household to son Ole Robeck
Oline Marie Røbæk emigrated with her two children in 1902.
Interesting that they live in Seattle, same place as your Oliver Everson. Hard to tell if they could be related or not.
But still, I think Oliver and his family could be from Møre og Romsdal county in Norway. Possibly from the Fræna - Kristiansund region.

Paul Martin Iverson is listed in a Family Tree on Ancestry. com. The tree belongs to grimdav, perhaps you can contact him to see if this familiy kept any old documents.

Registered to depart from Kristiansand in May 1893 Oliver Eversen, male, unmarried, fisker/fisherman born in 1860, lives in San Francisco and going to San Francisco sailing on the Hamburg line "AMERIKA PAPIRER" - America Papers, which could mean that he's filed for USA citizenship
Back in an edit to say it could mean he is a US citizen? I see jkmarler posted at the same time. :D

What it says is: on 23 May 1893, a male named Oliver Eversen who is unmarried, a fisherman born 1860 who lives in San Francisco is returning to San Francisco via the Hamburg Line. He is carrying American papers (probably for id purposes?)
He is leaving Norway through Kristiansand, a harborage near the southern most point of Norway.
Likely he's been home on a visit and is now returning to US. |
