Hi - are you referring to Hakon Peder Hansen Bolstad born 1864? Parents Hans Hansen Bolstad and Christiane Pedersdatter Hellemyren, lived in Grimstad, Aust-Agder, Norway in the 1865 census and emigrated 1872 to New Zealand with parents and siblings (Anna and Carl)?:

What records do you have for him, and what record shows him in 1888 in Australia? A full birth date (day-month-year) along with the parents' names will help to identify him in a death record, so it is important to state these. Thanks.
According to another poster on Norway Heritage, Hans Hansen Bølstad was one of the settlers of Norsewood at Hawkes Bay, a Norwegian settlement in New Zealand. A little more "starter" information about the family here:

| haakon bolstad was born in norway april 11th 1865 and was married in singleton, australia in 1887 but vanished, believed killed in a mining accident but no proof of the eventhas been found. his inhertitance from his mother;s estate he never claimed and we have exhausted our avenues of inquiry don |
